FDA guidelines call for less than 2,400 mg of sodium per day  which is about 1 teaspoon of table salt.

Companies like Heinz now make low salt (low sodium) versions of their popular lines. Many other companies also produce no salt or low salt versions. You need to use them! Always check the salt content when comparing brands and go for a product with little or no added salt. Dont add salt. Salt occurs naturally in foods and you don’t need to add extra.
